Fambul Tik's homecoming journey follows the story of slavery, resistance and abolition across Sierra Leone, with nights in Lungi, Freetown or Kent, Makeni and Kabala, and the official opening of the Eco-Living Oasis at Kent on 14 November 2026.
Guests depart the United States on 9 or 10 November from Atlanta, New York or Washington DC and are home on 21 November.

Bunce Island
Bunce Island to Kent
A morning boat excursion to Bunce Island, where enslaved Africans, including Gullah Geechee ancestors, were held before being shipped to South Carolina and Georgia. Afternoon transfer to Kent.

Banana Islands and Kent
Kent and the Banana Islands
A boat excursion on Fambul Tik's own vessel to the Banana Islands, where freed people settled, then a community walk through Kent village.

Official opening of the Eco-Living Oasis
Kent
The ribbon-cutting of the Eco-Living Oasis at Kent, five years to the day after the first foundation was laid, with cultural performances and a community celebration.

North to Kabala
Kent to Kabala
A drive of about five to six hours north to Kabala, with an evening cultural welcome in town.

Old Yagala to Makeni
The fortified hilltop village where people took refuge from slave raiders. Limba performances and elder storytelling, then on to Makeni.

Meet the basket makers whose craft echoes Gullah Geechee sweetgrass basket weaving, then return south to Kent.
