Mount Bintumani

Mount Bintumani, in the Loma Mountains of northern Sierra Leone, is the highest peak in the country at about 1,945 to 1,948 metres; published heights differ. It is among the highest summits in West Africa west of Cameroon.

The mountain and its surrounding range protect montane grassland and forest, supporting notable biodiversity, including primates and many bird species across changing altitude zones.

Reaching the summit is a multi-day trek through forest and grassland, typically with local guides and porters. It is a demanding route best attempted in the drier months and with proper preparation.
