Lakka Beach

Lakka Beach is a quick escape from Freetown without a long drive. The crescent of golden sand, about 1.5 km long, is backed by forested hills and coconut palms, with a small island at the northern end that can be reached on foot.
It is a good place to see local life, from painted canoes to fishermen grilling the day's catch. There are a few calmer swimming spots, especially at low tide, and seafood is served at beach bars and resorts along the sand.
Lakka is about 10 km south of Lumley Beach, around 20 minutes by taxi or car. Allow extra time for weekend and peak-hour traffic.
