Kangari Hills Forest Reserve

Kangari Hills Forest Reserve sits in the centre of Sierra Leone and is one of the few Upper Guinean forest ecosystems left in the country. Recorded wildlife includes forest elephants, chimpanzees, Diana monkeys and buffalo, along with 115 documented bird species such as the white-necked rockfowl.
The reserve is under pressure from illegal artisanal gold mining and logging. Guides can point out medicinal plants and spices used by local people.
To get there, travel from Kono to Makali or from Bo to Baomahun, then continue on secondary roads and footpaths.
